Rural breaks in Wales - beautiful country of the red dragon

Like Scotland, Wales is known for having plentiful countryside with green hills and valleys abounding. Wales is known in particular for valleys, presumably because the landscape in Wales is hilly rather than flat, meaning that a number of pretty valleys can be found here. Also like Scotland, Wales is known for its mountain ranges. There are a number of mountain ranges in Wales including Snowdonia in north Wales, the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains and the Cambrian mountains.

Wales is understandably popular with walkers, hikers and those who love mountaineering. The Welsh countryside has a certain charm to it and is known to be typically hilly with lots of sheep grazing. If you love natural beauty then you should enjoy a holiday in Wales. And if you enjoy keeping active then you should definitely enjoy a break in Wales.

Wales is not just known for valleys, mountains and countryside though. Wales is also known for having an amazing coastline and a good number of beaches. Some like to holiday near the coast yet in the countryside to get the best of both worlds. Not many people are aware, but there are parts of Snowdonia national park which also cover parts of the Welsh coastline.

In terms of national parks, Wales has three, these are:

- Snowdonia
- The Brecon Beacons
- Pembrokeshire Coast

Find somewhere lovely to stay in Wales, check out country cottages in Wales and have something nice to look forward to.

The different areas in Wales all offer something different. If you simply adore stunning natural scenery though then you should enjoy pretty much any region of Wales. It is best to stay away from the cities though if you are truly looking to relax and unwind and get away from all the noise of the city. The countryside can be just perfect for rejuvenating and relaxing in a tranquil environment.
